A particle image velocimetry (PIV) system was installed onto Cal Poly Pomona's Low Speed Wind Tunnel (CPP LSWT) and was used in my senior research project. This system enables advanced flow visualization by tracking illuminated glycerol particles that pass through the test section of the wind tunnel. Stereoscopic cameras are timed with a laser to capture multiple images of the glycerol-seeded air, that are then processed and converted into 2-D velocity vector field and pressure plots showing the airflow around a model inside the test section.
More information about this system and how it was used in my senior project are discussed in the report.
