designing the interior of a multi-story building with the main focus of including a hydroponic center. due to the historical value of the building facade the changes were only proposed for the interior of the building. Spaces to design also included a restaurant, market for the produce, an art gallery and a community area.
due to the sensitivity of the plants grown in the hydroponic center, the growing spaces had to be separated from the public spaces to avoid contamination. Since the growing area was the main focus in the program I wanted the customers and visitors to be able to experience the growing process visually to make them aware of the produce they are purchasing, while also create a physical separation for the protection of the plants. The pyramid-shaped section of the building allows for an interesting experience that gives people a closer look at the plants the higher they escalate while also allowing natural light as well as views of the led hydroponic lights from all stories.
