This was our final comprehensive project in our 'Computational Techniques in Finite Elements' class. The objective was to analyze a thin metallic bracket and calculate the von Mises stresses to 2% around the curved surfaces. This project included creating the model, applying boundary conditions and thermal loadings, meshing the part with a plane stress model with 6-node quadratic plane stress triangles, and analyzing the stresses. An error analysis was done by comparing the calculated stress errors against the estimated true solution using Richardson Extrapolation. The software used to create the model and simulation was ABAQUS CAE 2016.
